HOW YOU LIKE THAT PRERELEASE COVER

The comeback of BLACKPINK after over a year hiatus is not only confirming their international idol status but also their position as number 1, beating even their immensely famous compatriots, BTS. It is interesting to note that in the world of KPop and idol pop groups, for some reasons, usually the girl groups trail behind the boy groups, often by a long shot, so obviously BLACKPINK and the team behind them have done an amazing job!

BLACKPINK’s first pre-release single ‘How You Like That’, exploded onto the scene on the June 26th, 2020 and became so hot that it broke all the records on the global music platforms such as YouTube and Spotify, as well as domestic music charts.

According to the Guinness World Records’ homepage, the ‘How You Like That’ music video became the new record, posting 86.3 million views in 24 hours. It is the best performing KPop music video as well as YouTube video of all times, having produced the most hits within 24 hours!

They have lived up to their name, again… and their performance in the music video is just dazzling.

So… How You Like That? The popularity of the production can easily be attributed to the musical and visual sophistication that appeals to the international market. It is simply gorgeous, and watch this space as this single will lead to the release of a full length album in September 2020.

The KPop girl group is also hugely popular because of its large and wide international fan base. Rose grew up in Australia and Jennie studied in New Zealand, and so are English speaking, whilst Lisa who is from Thailand speaks Thai, Korean, English and Mandarin Chinese. Moreover, they also have a big following and loyal and powerful fandom club, Blink (vs Army of BTS). Therefore, as a group, they have a ready fan base, international yet localized, throughout the globe ever hungry and eager to pounce on anything new coming from them once they become available, including this very release. That generally explains why the views of their videos reached such a high record level within such a super short span of time!

Now, just take a moment to enjoy the music video again. How You Like That! OK, the title of the song itself is catchy enough, like “Why So Serious” from G-Dragon of Big Bang, also from the same company YG Entertainment, right. And, the music, visuals and all, just so stunning! So, it takes everything to be perfect to produce such an epic performance, and the results clearly show!
